Occasional musings.
Sometimes I forget that I’m not at work. Like right now my hands are a tiny bit dry and normally I’d just dip into a pot but I can’t because all of mine have lids on. Boo.
Also, I basically assume I’m wearing an apron at all times, which means I get stains on the front part of the thigh of any kind of skirt, trouser or short I own. Boo.

Oh man.
I just had the most almondy bath ever. Mike hates almonds so I figured I’d do it while he was out.
My last (I think? It’s hard to tell) Melting Snowman bath melt from Christmas, along with a Marzibain bubble bar and a nice chunk of Snowcake soap (also from Christmas).
I also had an Oatifix face mask for the first time. It’s not really for my skin (I’m pretty oily) but I like to try everything - I think it makes it easier to learn about the products. My face feels pretty damn soft at the moment though, I quite like that.
I’m either going to finish off with Peace or Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar. Strawberry Feels would mask the almondiness, but Peace is pretty low on scent and I LOVE it.
Oh decisions.
You know what I love?
When people moan about how a particular product (yes, I’m talking Lush) didn’t work for them, or they didn’t like it but you read on and they DIDN’T EVEN USE IT PROPERLY.
Seriously, ASK about the best way to use the product if you’re even a little bit unsure. It is NOT all soap, and some of the facial products are freaking bizarre.
When I first used Angels on Bare Skin I fucked it right up because I thought I knew it all, and didn’t bother asking the sales assistants. WRONG. When it was explained and I went home and used some my skin was awesome! It still is! Seriously, I don’t think people realise how much work goes into learning about the things we sell. We actually do know quite a lot.
Ossum.
There’s a woman I work with and she’s been with Lush since our shop opened (over 8 years), she’s awesome and has this amazing memory for ingredients and information. She’s also a massive note-taker and she’s gone on holiday this week. Before she left I was like “Naaaaat, do you need your bumper book of awesome Lush notes next week?” and obv, because she’s not a complete nerd she’s not taking it on holiday with her so I’ve basically got in my hand the daddy of Lush product, ingredient and effectiveness notes. Love it.
I let myself read it today, and tomorrow I’m going to let myself copy out the relevant notes (seriously, there’s stuff on Christmas products from 2 years ago, she’s a note taker!!)
I’m so excited. I’m really close to finishing my product info book this week as well.
Utter jackpot.
Ran myself a lovely hot bath (Marzibain bubble bar, part of a retro box I got from work). Popped a facemask (Love Lettuce) and a hair mask (H’suan Wen Hua) on and sunk back into my almond-y bubbles. I had taken a book in but I thought I might prefer some radio instead - well wouldn’t you know there was a rather juicy debate on radio 4 about abortion! Awesome, just the kind of thing I like to listen to/shout at.
It was both very relaxing and mentally stimulating.
Oh, and my face feels AMAZING. I really cannot extol the virtues of Full of Grace enough. I wasn’t sold until I tried it but I cannot get enough.
Sweet.
As much as I’m missing him, and it’s horrible that Mike’s away, it’s quite sweet when I get texts from him like “…also I took a picture of Berlin Lush”. N’aww.
This tour is pretty horrible though, because it’s abroad the phone calls and texts are expensive and neither of us can really afford it. I think we worked out that it doesn’t cost too much for him to text me, and it should still be free for me to text him. Still, I haven’t heard his voice for 4 days and I’m basically going crazy. I know it sounds pathetic but I live with this man and I see him every single day, this is hard.
Still, I know it’s not as hard for him, and that makes me kind of mad.
Sometimes I think about that flat we almost went for with the incredible bathroom and get really sad because something lovely like Blue Skies would be so beautiful in that free-standing bath. Or a big bottle of Glogg in the giant corner shower.
It was the best bathroom for a Lush employee. Sigh.
It would be really cool if…
…I was happily browsing the Lush tag on here, and I saw someone who was saying how nice their experience was and that was me they were talking about.
Oh dear.
Science Time.
Due to a little thing called surface area to volume ratio, cutting up your delicious soaps (LUSH or otherwise…but definitely LUSH) into little bits to make them last longer doesn’t work.
A bigger chunk lasts longer.
I do often chop off a little bit for travelling though.
