There seem to be a lot of people I was friends with at school who went off and did degrees and (I think?) got pretty good ones but they seem to have all come home and just gone full time at the job they used to just do on the weekends when we were at school. Like, I know I’m not doing anything amazing but I kind of think it’s not as bad because I don’t have a degree that I should be doing something with? I don’t know.
It’s just something I’ve noticed (probably because of Facebook) and I feel bad for noticing, and thinking that they’ve wasted a load of time and money and I feel bad for them that they have wasted a load of time and money. I hope it’s just while they’re looking for degree-relevant jobs, or graduate recruitment schemes (although don’t get me started on that bollocks).
It’s just, if you work in the same pub that you did when you were 18, despite having been away for 3 years and spent £21,000, what was the point?
